Many people are looking for God. If you’re one of those people, we’d like to share with you that the Bible has what you are seeking. It contains answers to life’s vital questions, and—most important—can help you understand how to have a right relationship with God.
Becoming a real Christian is not joining a religion or church. Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” – John 3:3 Being “born again” means believing the Gospel (good news) about Jesus and turning to God.
Here are some selected verses to help you do that:
- First, realize God loves you.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8
- Second, all are sinners, including you.
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” – Romans 3:23
“As it is written: ‘There is none righteous, no, not one;’” – Romans 3:10
- Sin has separated us from God, who is holy, and there is nothing we can do to bridge this separation and make ourselves right with God.
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” – Proverbs 14:12
“But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags;” – Isaiah 64:6
- God’s remedy for sin is Jesus.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:” – John 1:12
- All who believe may be saved now.
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” – Revelation 3:20
“For ‘whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’” – Romans 10:13
“but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.” – John 20:31
- Receive Christ as your Savior now by praying the following prayer:
“Father God, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, died for my sins on the cross, was buried and was raised for my justification. I now receive and confess Him as my personal Savior. Amen.”
- You can have assurance of your salvation.
Because of the promises in God’s Word, the Bible.
“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” – Romans 10:9
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” – John 5:24
“These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.” – 1 John 5:13
Because of the witness of God’s indwelling Holy Spirit.
“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,” – Romans 8:16
- After making your decision to receive Christ, we encourage you to prayerfully do the following:
Start reading the Bible. Begin with the Four Gospels in the New Testament.
“but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” – 2 Peter 3:18
“as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,” – 1 Peter 2:2
Learn to pray daily. In Matthew 6:9-13, Jesus taught His disciples the “model” prayer, often called The Lord’s Prayer. Remember, He intended this prayer to be an “example”.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7
Seek the fellowship of a Bible-believing Christian Church.
“not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” – Hebrews 10:25
Be Baptized. Jesus was baptized as an adult; we should follow His example.
“Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” – Romans 6:3-4
“Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him. Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, ‘See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?’ Then Philip said, ‘If you believe with all your heart, you may.’ And he answered and said, ‘I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.’” – Acts 8:36-37
Take part in the Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion).
“And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’ Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.’” – Luke 22:19-20
“For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.” – 1 Corinthians 11:26
